Mechanical Factors on electric cables

The overall protective coverings of the cable, prevent the cable form moisture ingress, provide resistance to mechanical damage and also to other external influences such as corrosion and fire.
We know that the robber insulation tends to become softend sticky after long and continuous contact with oil or grease.
It  is applicated that the rubber insulation cables should not be exposed to the direct rays of sun, so therefore P.V.C insulated cables are use in these cases.
P.V.C insulation is un-affected by oil, grease, acids and chemical.
In case of P.V.C cables the risk of mechanical injury is reduced.
