What is Series Circuit?

If two resistors are connected in this way that the current passing through one must pass through the other, then we say that these two resistors are connected in series.
The value of current is same in both two resistors because there is no other path for current in which it can flow.
In short words we can say that in a series circuit, the current is same.

        I1 = I2 = ...................... = In

In the series circuit the voltage drop across each resistor are different.
The high value resistance take large voltage drops and the low value resistance takes small voltage drops.
The sum of voltage drops across each resistor in series circuit is equal to the total supply voltages and the total circuit resistance is equal to the sum of total resistances in series circuit.
